lucy tiven is a journalist, critic, and poet living in los angeles. she likes to write about the cold war and its aesthetic afterlives. her research interests also include literary modernity and the national security state, airpower theory, & law as literature.  

she began her journalistic career in the arts beat and has since covered politics, science, culture, and technology as well as work in diplomatic speechwriting on northeast asia, alliance management, and trade. she has served as an editor on a variety of projects including ngo reports (EU externalities, sustainability, foreign policy, migration, international cooperation, arms trade) and history textbooks (korean war, economic development of south korea, south korea-us alliance).
